From Heflin, AL, take US Rt. 78 east for 5.7 miles to Coleman
Lake sign (County Rt. 61). Turn left onto Rt. 61 and go 7.6
miles to another Coleman Lake sign (Forest Rt. 500). Turn right
onto Rt. 500 and go 0.4 miles to Coleman Lake campground sign.
Turn right and continue on Forest Rt. 500 and go 1.8 miles to
campground sign. Turn right into campground.
GENERAL COMMENTS:
The elevation is 1,220 ft.
The campground is located above Coleman Lake in hardwoods. It
consists of two loops, both with electric and water hookups.

In Centreville, AL, take US Rt. 82 west to State Rt. 5. Turn
left onto Rt. 5 and go south 5.9 miles to State Rt. 25. Turn
right onto Rt. 25 and go 16.2 miles to Payne Lake National Forest
Recreation Area sign. Turn right and follow signs to campground.
GENERAL COMMENTS:
The campground, comprised of two sections separated by Payne Lake,
is situated in pine and hardwood forest. Some sites overlook
lake. There are several walk-in tent sites.

Cross railroad tracks and turn right onto County Rt. 66. Go 2.5
miles to Pine Glen sign (Forest Rt. 548). Turn left onto Rt. 548
and go 1.9 miles to another Pine Glen sign (Forest Rt. 531).
Turn left onto Rt. 531 and go 2.1 miles to still another Pine
Glen sign (Forest Rt. 500). Turn right onto Rt. 500 and go 0.6
miles to campground.
GENERAL COMMENTS:
The elevation is 1,220 ft.
Some sites are adjacent to Shoal Creek.

The elevation is 1,320 ft.
The campground, used for both equestrian and hunting purposes,
shows signs of non-designated, dispersed camping. There are no
hitching posts, rails or stalls. Interior roads are eroding.
Generally, campground is under-maintained.
