GENERAL COMMENTS:
The elevation is 1000 ft.

This pack-it-in, pack-it-out tent-only campground straddles Black
Creek which feeds Black Creek Lake. Sites are tucked in among
shady oak and have a pleasant grass understory. The lack of
middle story results in poor privacy between campsites.
Campsites across the Creek, accessible only when lake is low,
have tent pads but sites along the roadway and near the boat ramp
have no tent pads. Black Creek Lake is a popular day-use location.
The Lake is reported to have good Carp fishing.

Things to Do - Visit the little town of Decatur, TX and view the
Petrified Wood Gas Station. It was built in 1927 and years later was
covered with chunks of petrified wood. Alongside the gas station are
rock-covered cabins and a café.

CAMPGROUND NAME: Tadra Point VISIT DATE: 10/10/2009 UPDATE DATE: 3/9/2020 STATE: Texas REGION: Southern RANGER DISTRICT: Caddo-LBJ NEAREST CITY/TOWN: Decatur RESERVATIONS: No DIRECTIONS: In Decatur, TX, at the intersection of US Rt. 380 and FM Rt. 730, take ramp to stop sign. Turn left at stop sign onto Rt. 730 and go 9 miles to County Rt. 2461 sign. Turn left at sign onto Forest Rt. 900 (gravel) and go 1.8 miles to campground. GENERAL COMMENTS: The elevation is 1000 ft. This pack-it-in, pack-it-out horse-friendly campground, has two loops and a short spur meandering through a grove of oak. Beyond the oak grove are grassy fields available for additional camping. Considered to be the best trail riding opportunity in the area, the campground fills up on weekends but adjacent meadows provide space for over-flow. The campsites tend to be free-flowing, and with no under or middle story, privacy between sites is poor. Some high-line posts are available for tethering horses. An open air pavilion and over 75 miles of trails, makes this a popular campground for groups of all sizes. Things to Do - Visit the little town of Decatur, TX and view the Petrified Wood Gas Station. It was built in 1927 and years later was covered with chunks of petrified wood. Alongside the gas station are rock-covered cabins and a café.
