Death Valley National Park's
Artists Drive

There are numerous Scenic Drives within Death Valley National Park. Artists Drive is one we took. The curving single-lane Artists Drive is one-way and follows the foothills of the Black Mountains. Artists Drive is not recommended for large recreational vehicles or vehicles longer than 25-ft as there are tight curves and some roller coaster-like stretches. Evidence of occasional but intense flash floods can be seen in deeply carved canyons and numerous alluvial fans. This is a visual feast for the eye and provides an interesting geological tour of Death Valley. Here are some photographs we took of this colorful place.
