When you are a full-time RVer, you want a travel–loving pup to share your adventures.<\/p>\n

I often tease Fred by telling others he would be more likely to leave me behind than our puppies, Maybe or Ralf, when he wants to go camping. Maybe, recused from a Livingston, MT shelter last year, seems to have been born to travel. But it was all new to Ralf. We were told he probably spent the first year of his life confined in a cage so everything was new to hime. Poor Ralf was terrified of cars, the motion of traveling, things flying by, and just about everything related to traveling.<\/p>\n

So what did we do? Well, it took awhile but this is what we did – short car trips, at first about for 10-15 minutes at a time, and gradually increasing the car ride\u2019s duration. We would stay alert to any signs that Ralf was getting anxious. Was he restless and panting or drooling? \u00a0IF yes we would stop,getout of the vehicle, and walk around for a little while or until he seemed to relax, Then get back into the vehicle and go for another short period.<\/p>\n

Our veterinary recommended over-the-counter medication in case he got motion sickness. \u00a0The vet also offered some pharmaceuticals to help lessen Ralf\u2019s anxiety and stress but we declined then<\/p>\n

Rule #1: Nap often<\/p><\/div>\n

Our approach worked very nicely. Now, Ralf will actually do a little dance when he sees us pick-up our car keys. He is a travel-loving puppy ready to hit the road any time, any place, and any where.<\/span><\/p>\n
