Hanging loose<\/p><\/div>\n

While at a overlook in the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, a caravan arrived and out climbed a hoard of young people. \u00a0Their plan was to hike about a mile to the “really big” dunes and sandboard to the water’s edge. \u00a0From our explorations Fred and I knew there were some pretty tall dunes (they looked to be several stories tall) nearby but didn’t think there were any dunes that big here. \u00a0But if those young people were like Fred and I in our younger days it would have matter. \u00a0It would have been all about the thrill of trying something new. \u00a0To bad youth is wasted on the young ’cause sandboarding sounds like good fun. \u00a0Never saw anyone actually sandboarding but assume the technique is similar to snowboarding.<\/p>\n

A little further down the beach, Fred and I found this stretch of deserted beach. \u00a0A perfect spot for lunch and some quiet time watching the waves. \u00a0Later, we learned just up a little ways the beach was open to Off-Road Vehicles but this stretch was a buffer to an endangered shorebird’s nest area.<\/p>\n
