As the camping season gets underway, it seems to me camping adventures will fall into three general categories:\u00a0 change of wallpaper; summer vacation; and, lifetime adventure.<\/p>\n

Let me clarify and give you examples.<\/p>\n

A Change of wallpaper<\/b> adventure would be a mini-vacation, probably a weekend break in routine.\u00a0\u00a0 The destination, close to home, is simply different than home.\u00a0 For me, camping at Parker Lake would be perfect.\u00a0 About a one-and-half hour drive from my home, it feels like another planet.\u00a0 A highlight would Sunday brunch at one of the nearby Wineries.\u00a0 .<\/p>\n

\"Oak<\/a><\/div>\n

A Summer vacation<\/b> adventure takes more effort to plan and should be some place special with enough to do to keep everyone happy for a week to ten days.\u00a0 For me it would be Oak Creek Canyon (north of Sedona, AZ) in Coconino NF for a week or so than the midweek stay in Ten-X CG in Kaibab NF\u00a0 south of Grand Canyon NP.\u00a0 Oak Creek Canyon is a wonder all by itself while Sedona, AZ has numerous commercial attractions (a jeep tour would be high on my list of things to do) and Flagstaff is an easy daytrip from there.\u00a0 Actually, there is so much to do, I might be tempted to stay longer.\u00a0 An alternative to the Grand Canyon NP would be Walnut Canyon National Monument<\/a> a place\u00a0 we haven\u2019t been to yet.\u00a0 Which illustrates another consideration when planning a Summer vacation – What new stuff to you want to experience?<\/p>\n

An Adventure of a lifetime<\/b>\u00a0requires lots of planning and you probably do only once.\u00a0 It\u00a0 is a camping adventure that provides you with lasting memories.\u00a0 Our trip to Alaska falls into this category.\u00a0\u00a0 Yes, we might go back someday but we have several other Adventures of a lifetime to enjoy.<\/p>\n
