{"id":3871,"date":"2014-04-21T03:43:36","date_gmt":"2014-04-21T10:43:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/forestcamping.com\/blog\/?p=3871"},"modified":"2020-12-22T16:28:30","modified_gmt":"2020-12-22T23:28:30","slug":"tips-for-using-less-water-when-camping","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.forestcamping.com\/dow\/suzi\/tips-for-using-less-water-when-camping\/","title":{"rendered":"Use less water camping"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When I moved into my brick-and-stick house in southeast Arizona, a neighbor\u00a0 really when you camp, desert and tropical landscape, water conservation is a way of life. \u00a0Here are some ways we stretch our water:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Steam instead of boiling vegetables when possible. \u00a0Steaming requires less water and leaves more nutrients.<\/li>\n<li>Rinse produce in a basin of water and not under a water tap, using a vegetable brush.<\/li>\n<li>Use hand sanitizer<span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\"> to clean hands.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>For a quick sponge bath use unscented baby wipes.<\/li>\n<li>Wash all you dirty dishes than rinse all at the same time in a tub of fresh clear water.<\/li>\n<li>Use hot water to wash dishes and fresh cold water for rinsing. \u00a0Option: Add a cap full of liquid bleach to rinse water to sanitize.<\/li>\n<li>Use the clear rinse water from dinner dishes for bedtime bath.<\/li>\n<li>Use paper towels to wipe all debris from your dishes before washing them.<\/li>\n<li>While waiting for hot water from the tap, catch the running water in a clean jug or bucket to reuse it.\u00a0 Maybe you can use for rinsing dishes or flushing toilet.<\/li>\n<li>Don&#8217;t run the tap while brushing your teeth, shave, or wash your face or hands, conserve water by turning the tap on to just a slow dribble.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Buy and use reusable plastic ice cubes.\u00a0 Conserved water and chills your drinks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Always, always, always dispose of water using the &#8220;broadcast&#8221; method.<\/p>\n<div class=\"linkwithin_hook\" id=\"https:\/\/www.forestcamping.com\/dow\/suzi\/tips-for-using-less-water-when-camping\/\"><\/div><script>\n<!-- \/\/LinkWithinCodeStart\nvar linkwithin_site_id = 237346;\nvar linkwithin_div_class = \"linkwithin_hook\";\n\/\/LinkWithinCodeEnd -->\n<\/script>\n<script src=\"http:\/\/www.linkwithin.com\/widget.js\"><\/script>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.linkwithin.com\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.linkwithin.com\/pixel.png\" alt=\"Related Posts with Thumbnails\" style=\"border: 0\" \/><\/a>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When I moved into my brick-and-stick house in southeast Arizona, a neighbor\u00a0 really when you camp, desert and tropical landscape, water conservation is a way of life. \u00a0Here are some ways we stretch our water: Steam instead of boiling vegetables when possible. \u00a0Steaming requires less water and leaves more nutrients.
