Doing crafts with grandchildren while camping is a favorite activity for both Grandma and grandchildren.<\/p>\n

A long weekend camping with grandchildren was fun.\u00a0 However, afternoons of rain did pose a challenge for all.\u00a0 Grandma\u2019s \u201cCraft Box\u201d to the rescue!\u00a0 Here are a few crafts that kept the children busy until the rain stopped and it dried up a little.<\/p>\n

Yarn Basket<\/strong> –<\/h2>\n

The idea is from No Time for Flash Cards.\u00a0 In our case, less was more produced the best results.<\/p>\n

\nMarbleized Egg<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Check out the marbleized egg in the completed Yarn Basket – We had a bunch of colored glue leftover from the Window Clinger (see below), so used it to make an egg for each child’s Yarn Basket.\u00a0 Interestingly, all the colors mixed together made this pretty green.

Window Clingers<\/strong><\/h2>\n

We used white school glue to outline an object (fish and flower are easy to identify) on a piece of plastic wrap stretched over a pie pan and let it dry completely.\u00a0 Then we mixed a dab of white school glue and some food color together.\u00a0 When well mixed, the colored glue was “painted” within the outline formed by the white glue and allow to dry completely (this took several hours).\u00a0 The Clingers were gently peeled off the plastic wrap and clinged to the motorhome’s rear window.\u00a0 The fish and flower came out well.\u00a0 Not sure what the other two objects were supposed to be but the girls were so proud of their handiwork.<\/p>\n

\nCrocheted eggs<\/strong> critters<\/h2>\n

Using Lion Brand Yarn’s pattern for Easter Eggs<\/a>, I made three eggs from some cotton yarn, stuffed them and handed one to each child with a few pieces of felt, marking pens, and glue.\u00a0 Aren’t their creations precious?!?!?!\u00a0 FYI:\u00a0 They are a Bubble bee, chicken, and mouse.<\/p>\n
