The COVID-19 pandemic had everyone staying put.\u00a0 For me, one of the downsides of spending all that time seating around was I got to see just how dirty my motorhome was.\u00a0 We didn’t clean it as thoroughly as usual when we got home in the Fall and it showed.\u00a0 I looked at the products I had on hand and wondered, “Do I have to use chemicals to get the motorhome clean?”\u00a0 The answer is a resounding, “NO!”<\/p>\n

First Pick Up<\/h2>\n

Here are some of the things I use in my house that will work just fine in the motorhome.\u00a0 The best part is, these cleaning aides are safe enough to use in our national forests, too.\u00a0<\/p>\n

First pick up the following at your local grocery or drug store:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Hydrogen Peroxide<\/li>\n
  • White Vinegar<\/li>\n
  • Table Salt<\/li>\n
  • Baking Soda<\/li>\n
  • Liquid Castile Soap (in my local health food store)<\/li>\n
  • Tea Tree Essential Oil (in my local health food store)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    For the refrigerator,<\/h2>\n

    Mix a bucket of hot water and 2 cups of white vinegar and give all the refrigerator’s surfaces a good scrubbing.\u00a0 No rinsing is necessary but you should dry well.<\/p>\n

    For the oven,<\/h2>\n

    Mix 1 1\/2 cups of white vinegar with 1 cup of baking soda (I use the old baking soda from refrigerator) and smear the paste oven’s interior.\u00a0 Let set for an hour.\u00a0 You might want to spritz with clear water if the paste get to dry.\u00a0 Put on rubber gloves, grab some steel wool and scrub in circle motion.\u00a0 Wipe clean with a damp rag.<\/p>\n

    For stubborn greasy spots,<\/h2>\n

    Liberal sprinkle with table salt and let sit for a little while then wipe up.\u00a0 I especially like to use table salt and a lemon peel to clean the bottom of my pots.<\/p>\n

    For germ busting,<\/h2>\n

    Fill a opaque sprayer bottle with 50% water and 50% hydrogen peroxide. Use the fine mist setting on nozzle to spray germ-gathering areas, such as shower stall, counters, and cutting boards.<\/p>\n

    For windows and mirrors, <\/strong><\/h2>\n

    Fill another sprayer with 50% water and 50% white vinegar.\u00a0 Use just like the store bought stuff.<\/p>\n

    For deodorizing your carpets, rugs and upholstery,\u00a0<\/h2>\n

    Mix 1 cup of baking soda and 20 drops of tea tree essential oil.\u00a0 Sprinkle liberally over carpets and upholstery and leave for 1\/2 an hour then vacuum off.<\/p>\n
