I\u2019m basically a scaredy-cat.\u00a0 I once would cover my eyes for scarey scenes in movies but now I avoid scarey stuff altogether.\u00a0 So you would think Halloween wouldn\u2019t be a favorite holiday but I since I have grand-babies, I really enjoy it.<\/p>\n

Although I can\u2019t be there when my grand-babies get dressed up for their school\u2019s Halloween parades or when they go door to door and I do try to make some contribution to their fun. \u00a0Here are some of my contributions over the years:<\/p>\n

Ghosty banana <\/strong>– Peel a ripe banana and cut in the middle.\u00a0 Inserting a stick into the flat end of the banana is optional.\u00a0 Dip the rounded end into either the melted white chocolate or caramel and set upright in a cupcake pan.\u00a0 Use mini-chips for eyes.\u00a0 You could pop in the freezer or serve when the melted candy is firm.

\nSweet Mummy toes<\/strong> – Peel a sweet apple, core and cut into eight pieces.\u00a0 Dip one end of each toe into honey.<\/p>\n

Bugs on a log <\/strong>– Stuff some clean celery stocks with peanut butter and sprinkle with raisins (faux ants) and flaked coconuts (faux maggots).<\/p>\n

Dogs in the graveyard <\/strong>– Make a box of mac and cheese.\u00a0 Mix in a few drops of green food coloring along with the milk.\u00a0 Meanwhile, cut a good quality hot dog into three pieces and cook using your favorite method.\u00a0 To serve, put the mac and cheese in a bowl and stick the hot dog pieces upright into the mac and cheese.\u00a0 Option: Dot eyes on the dogs using yellow mustard.<\/p>\n

Mummy gum<\/strong>\u00a0– Tear some medical adhesive tape long way in strips.\u00a0 Take a five piece package of sugarless gum and wrap with these strips of tape.\u00a0 Use a black pen to draw a face on each \u201cmummy.\u201d\u00a0 Option:\u00a0 Glue a couple of little goggle eyes on each package.<\/p>\n

Graveyard pudding –<\/strong> Either buy a package of pudding cups or make your own bowl of instant pudding – Must<\/span> be chocolate – a spoon into small cups. \u00a0Stick some candy worms into the “ground” and sprinkle a little cookie crumbs (graham, oatmeal, whatever) on top. \u00a0Dress it up by sticking a cookie tombstone into the cup.<\/p>\n
