Quiet time\u00a0 watch tv with Grandpa<\/p><\/div>\n

Quiet time with our time with grandchildren is a favorite activity when visiting them\u00a0 In reality, most of our time with our grandchildren has us running here and there so those quiet times are precious.\u00a0 \u00a0Honestly, a rainy day is a great day to just enjoy some quiet time inside with our grandchildren.\u00a0 We’ll read books, built a tent in the livingroom, watched some tv and have lots of fun.\u00a0 All our granchildren are “too old” for\u00a0 taking a nap (although Grandma and Grandpa would like one) so I’ll pull out these two recipes and we get \u201ccrafty and creative.\u201d\u00a0 I love being a Grandma!!!<\/p>\n

Homemade Play Dough<\/strong><\/h2>\n

2 Cups flour
\n1 Cup salt
\n2 \u00bd tsp cream of tartar
\n1 Tb vegetable oil
\n2 Cups water
\nMix all the ingredients together in a large, heavy pot.\u00a0 (I use a whisk to get the lumps out.)\u00a0 Place over a medium-high heat and stir constantly until very thick – about 5 minutes.\u00a0 Cool enough to handle.\u00a0 Divide into 3 or 4 pieces.\u00a0 Knead in desired food coloring.\u00a0 Store in air-tight container or zip-lock bag.<\/p>\n

Finger Paints<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Stir 4 tablespoons of sugar and \u00bd cup cornstarch together in a heavy saucepan.\u00a0 Slowly add 2 cups of cold water and stir until soft (whisk works well for this).\u00a0 Heat over medium, stirring constantly, until the mixture is thick (it will thicken further as it cools).\u00a0 Pour a portion of mixture in one plastic container for each color wanted.\u00a0 Add food coloring for the desired shade and stir well.<\/p>\n
