One of our favorite times to camp is in the off season. It is quiet and the all the animals are out and about. This picture was taken in Mid October 2007 at Glacier NP. The shot is looking back at the West Entrance of the park. During the vacation season, the road would be bussling with cars and people / all the stores etc would be open for business. The day this pic was taken, it was snowing above us and the only other people in the area were two guys fly fishing in the river.

Nice to see a shot that's not "wall-to-wall" people! Have you explored the East side of Glacier? We really like to go to Swiftcurrent and Two Medicine...not nearly as crowded as St. Mary's and the West side, but still pretty busy in summer.

The last time we camped at the East Entrance was approximately 6 years ago. We were just passing thru on the way to the Candian Rockies and stayed at the KOA nearby (St Mary was filled and it was late when we had arrived.) Have been to St Mary and Two Medicine. We like them both. Next time we go out there, we are going to make a point of spending more time at Glacier NP.

(We were near the East Entrance during the 2007 trip. It was snowing like a son of a gun so we decided not to drive up there. Browning had 3" of blowing snow as we drove thru.)

I wish words could describe what it is like to be in the mountains on a sunny, crisp fall day. I take pictures but they can't entirely convey the joy and freedom that I feetl when I took them, Looking a your photo lets me know that ther might be others who feel the same,

Yup, it is very special. While I can say I am a much better photographer than long ago, it is still really hard to get the picture to convey the feeling. That's what keeps me going out to get more (along with the pure joy of being out in the woods!!
