Does anybody have a strong recommendation for a multi-person back country tent? I am looking for something that is an all season solution.

How many people are you looking to have in the tent?

4 adults and 2 kids, ages 7 and 4. If possible, 2 adults that can be somewhat separated from the 2 kids and their mother and father.

Doesn't look like you are getting much response. You could try CampingBlogger http://www.campingblogger.net/. He does equipment reviews and they seem pretty honest. Also take of look at the Helpful Links page at Camping with Suzi.http://www.forestcamping.com/dow/suzi/links.htm under Products for other possible sources.

I have been a fan of Eureka tents for quite a while. My Timberline held up for 15 years and took quite a beating, including surviving one tornado in North Dakota right after I got it. (The poles were definitely bent after that one!) . I have used several dome tents and they have worked well too.

When you indicate "Back Country", are you planning to do some back packing or will your car still be somewhat nearby? If you are doing back packing, weight becomes an issue. That will be a consideration.

When purchasing a tent for general tenting, you want to try to get one with a capacity of one more than you have in your party. If 2 people are going to be in a tent, then you want a 3 man or larger. If you are back packing, you will want a tent that matches your tent capacity. (2 people = 2 man tent to keep the weighht down)

A good company is Cabelas. They have some buyers guides that may help you in your decision. I have been very pleased with thier customer service. Campmor is another good one with good prices.

Hope this helps!

Are you looking for something light that can be backpacked in? Or does weight not matter?

Are you looking for something that the whole family can fit into or would individual tents work?

When I am going into the backcounty I either bring a hammock if it is just me, a lightweight tent if its a couple or a canvas tent if I have an ATV and more then 2 people.
