Hi,
I am a new member. We are planning our first week long camping trip this summer to the Black Hills. We will be traveling with our 7, 10 and 13 year old kids in a pop-up camper. We have tent camped many times in the WI National Forests and love it there. Any recommendations for where to camp in the Black Hills?
Thanks,
Kaki

To the left of this window, click on National Forests & Campgrounds.
Scroll down the Forests by Name menu and select Black Hills. You will see a list of all the NF Campgrounds in the Black Hills NF and Fred & Suzi's reviews of each of them. Although we all see things a little differently, I think you'll find that the Dows' reviews are about as impartial and accurate as you are likely to find anywhere. Have a great trip.
Ed.

As you may know, one of the major things to do in the Black Hills NF is visiting Mt. Rushmore National Monument. It is quite an experience for persons of most any age. If that is what you have in mind, consider staying at Horsethief Lake campground. It's just two miles from the monument. The downside is that it's a very popular campground - suggest making reservations.
Of course, there are other campgrounds not as close to the monument that might not be as crowded. As Ed suggested, take a look at the Guide for other camping options . . . Fred
