Hi Fred,
I'm new to this forum, just found it.
I have a 31 foot 5th wheel, 2 slides on driver's side.
I would like to camp on Grand Mesa during the 1st week of September.
Are there any campgrounds that will accomodate a trailer that size?
Also, I see that the closing date is listed as Sept. 8.
Does that mean that we won't be allowed to stay past that date?
Thanks for your help.
Phil

Phil - I assume you mean Grand Mesa National Forest. Look at the "Average Parking Apron Size" in our campground descriptions (click on the National Forests and Campground tab, upper left). I believe there are several that will accommodate your rig, e.g., Little Bear campground. Little Bear also has ten pull-throughs. Note the average apron size is 10' X 49', which means there are some parking aprons (back-ins) close to 60 ft.
As to being able to stay in the campground after the closing date, that will vary. As a rule of thumb, I'd say no, especially if it's gated. However, there is another side of the coin in that the Forest Service might keep the campground open longer. In any case, I suggest you call the Ranger District Office listed in our campground descriptions to clarify the policy and confirm the actual closing date . . . Fred

Fred,
Thanks for your help.
Guess I should have checked out the web site before I asked for help.
Anyway, it looks like Island Lake might be what we are looking for.
Thanks again.
