Hi, I am really a newbie- haven't even bought my mh yet, but am looking. I want to head out to Montana (from PA) this summer- take my 17 yr. old son to all the great spots. My question: do u think we can do this in 2.5 weeks? I guess if we have to we will find a way- but I just would like your expert opinions. Also, what places to see? I am trying for Yellowstone, Glacier, the Tetons.....sure I will find more as I research for the trip. I am so excited ! We are moving up from a pop-up to a class c- so when I find one, I will be so happy !!!
Thanks for all the support !

It'll be a tight trip driving all the way from PA to the western part of MT. (Do you know how many miles it is from the eastern border of MT to the western border? Many people from the East have no concept of the long distances one has to travel in the West.)

However, if you drive long days to get there and long days to get back, then it's probably do-able, particularly if you stick to the Yellowstone and Grand Tetons...you won't have a lot of time, if any, for side trips to see all the other stuff that there is to see in Montana and the other states you'll be driving through. It's over 400 miles from Gardiner, MT (just outside the northern entrance to Yellowstone) to Browning, MT (near the eastern entrance of Glacier NP).

If you plan on driving the Going-to-the-Sun Road in Glacier NP, you won't be able to do it in your motorhome since there is a length and width limit on that road. So you'll either need to take a toad, rent a car, or take one of the tour buses (if they're still running...they were taken out of service for awhile...you'll be able to get current information from the NPS's website).

There are lots of things to see and do in Montana. One of our favorite stops in Montana is the Little Bighorn Battlefield NM near Hardin, the Bighorn Canyon NRA that extends into Wyoming, and the Fort Peck Lake area.

You could spend and entire summer in Montana and not see it all!

LindaH is right...you can't see it all. The key is not to try to see it all. Relax and enjoy what you do have time for. Never be discouraged that there is too much to see...always be grateful that there is so much and that there will always be something new over the next mountain.

Definitely get out there!! It is a great part of the world. Yellowstone and Tetotons are trip unto itself. We we were out there last summer with a group of friends and had a blast. Glacier is another great area. Montana is a huge state with lots of beautiful views. Take some time to hang out in the National Forests. Lots of great sites and sights.
:)

If you can, try to go right after school is out or around Labor Day. There are less people and more animals.
