At night, not a light can be seen anywhere from our campsite in Fort Pierre National Grassland.

The pictures below of the Badlands are about 2 hours from the above NG location. We were finishing up researching Buffalo Gap National Grassland, much of which surrounds the Badlands.

I love the badlands - one of my favorite places. If you have a 1/2 day, take the trail to 'the Notch". A great view of the valley in the distance.! The trail itself in interesting too.
