Noteworthy Vedauwoo Campground – outstanding!

I remembered Vedauwoo camping, in Medicine Bow NF, for its wonderfully fanciful rock formations.  Our initial visit to this campground was in 1998 and memories of the huge “rotting” granite boulders carved into fanciful shapes had stayed with me.  But now, after our 2012 visit,  I know there is much more to this super camping spot than just the fancies of the mind.

There are the beautiful stands Aspen like this one in Box Canyon.

Moose, deer, and all sorts of wildlife roaming all over the area.  Challenging rocks to climb including Turtle Rock.  And hiking trails that weave through the rocks and trees to lakes and open vistas.

But there are still the rocks carved into so many interesting shapes and images.  Can you see the two dolphins swimming with a box on their backs in this first photo?  Or the Old man’s profile in the second photo?  Hopefully, we’ll have a lot more photos of this campground up on ForestCamping.com soon so you can see more reasons to visit this wonderful campground in the Medicine Bow NF  (WY) located about halfway between Laramie and Cheyenne.

  1. Jeff says:

I see the big nose and lip. Nice
When I retire I will make it west. The really magnificent places are a long way from Missouri.
