How I avoid getting bug bites

I love the Outdoors and all that it is. However one thing I wish my time Outdoors didn’t include is bug bites. Don’t get me wrong. I appreciate bugs and understand their place in the eco-system but why do they have to see me as a food source? Well, I guess its part of their nature and the best thing to do is to make myself, and my family members, less attractive to those six and eight legged critters. Here’s how?

Skip sweet smelling lotions

I skip perfume and scented lotions when in the great out-of-doors. Bees, wasps, and yellow jackets are drawn to floral and sweet smells so I stay with my natural scent.

Go for dull, not outstanding

I don’t dress in bright colors or floral-like patterns when in the outdoors.

Use caution and awareness

If I happen upon a nest or hive, I slowly walk away. No swatting and panic, that could cause the bugs to feel threatened and thus attack.

I never, ever stick my hand, feet, or any other part of my anatomy someplace I can’t see into like a hole in a tree trunk or a pile of rocks. Such places are favorites for critters like spiders that could do a person some serious hurt.

I always use a bug repellant. And apply it not only  to my exposed skin but also clothing and headware.
