02palatki-ruins.jpg The Sinagua people selected this picturesque box canyon, or rincon, not for its beauty but for its potential. It is thought these people came looking for wanted some place where they could raise their crops and families safely more than 600 years ago. The ruins, discovered in the late 1880s, were mis-identified as being of the Palatki, who were thought to be the ancestors of the Hopi and Navajo people.
