10ainside_ferry_to_orcas_wa.jpg Our next adventure, Orcas Island, required a ferry ride. We got to the Washington State Ferry Terminal on Fidalgo Island about an hour before departure time and we got into line. There must have been a dozen lanes marked off for the various destinations and a have dozen of attendees directing traffic. It was amazingly organized. We had time to visit the Terminal, browse a wall of pamphlets, visit the bathroom, and check out the cafe (sure glad we brought our own bagel and fruit for breakfast). Soon we were asked to return to our car to be loaded on the ferry and get underway.

If we thought the pre-boarding area was organized but crowded, it was nothing compared to inside the Ferry. There was hardly room to pass between the cars and the ferry's bulkhead but the upstairs area was amazingly spacious. It was like a very plain ballroom without any music. Unfortunately, the ride over was in a fog so views along the way were limited.
