pink02.jpg The darker cap seen on this formation is typical of the area. It appears to protect the softer Claron formation from erosion. To a trained eye, the various colored rocks may tell a story of oceans coming and going, layers of mud stone and siltstone washing down from the surrounding mountains, and winds bringing sand in from distant deserts. A trained eye may see such things but I see only the magnificent handiwork of nature.
