elk1.jpg Whistlers campground is huge, some 781 sites!!! It is a series of loops branching off a huge circle. This design provides campers and elk with a pleasant amount of privacy. We arrived at Whistlers campground at the tail end of the elk's calving season. That meant there were a lot of hungry elk mommies munching on the fresh Spring greenery and warnings everywhere to keep our distance. The Rangers forgot to tell the elk to do likewise. Several times elk came right up to our rig in their quest for fresh greens. Poor Ralf, our dog, nearly hurt himself barking furiously but the elk were totally unimpressed..
