glacier07.jpg Here is a glacier towering above Athabasca Glacier. It is called a "hanging" glacier. One interesting tidbit is the speed a glacier moves. It seems the upper reaches move faster than the lower thus causing that curving or bowing at the lower edge of the ice flow. The Athabasca Glacier movement has been measured 15 to 20 yards a year at the lower parts and up to 127 yards per year at its upper reaches.
