Around the Campfire
ARE THERE ANY HOT SHOWERS?
A day or two without a showers is manageable for most but the luxury of hot water to wash away
the sweat and strain of a day camping, hiking, and generally exploring a national forest is a much
desired delight for all. The following is a list of all the National Forest campgrounds with hot
showers we have found during our research for the {U.S. National Forest Campground Guide}
series and website. Note we have not included what we would call “three-man-showers” (cold
water showers which it takes two people to hold you under the water while the third person turns
the water on) or the recently discovered solar shower stalls (a small free-standing structure where
campers can hang their own solar heated shower bag and shower in private).
For your information, we found 200 out of more than 2,300 campgrounds with hot showers.
There are campgrounds with hot showers in every Region except the Northern. The Southern
Region has the greatest number and most “family-friendly” hot shower facilities. Most of the
campgrounds with hot showers also have flush toilets.
